We use the phrase “these terms” to cover all of these terms and conditions and any changes to them. Please read these terms carefully before you start using YouPost. By accessing and using YouPost you agree to be bound by these terms. If you don’t accept them, you should not access and use YouPost.
We may change the functionality of YouPost, including these terms, at any time by posting changes online. Your continuing use of YouPost will mean that you agree to those changes.
Please note that additional terms may apply to specific services or online tools provided through YouPost. If YouPost links to any additional terms as well as these terms for a particular service or tool, you must read these terms and the additional terms together. If there is any inconsistency between these terms and the service or tool-specific terms, the service or tool-specific terms will prevail.
These terms do not apply to the carriage and delivery of physical mail items through our physical postal network. The carriage and delivery of physical mail items by us is governed by our Public Contract and Postal Users’ Guide, copies of which are available at www.nzpost.co.nz or at your nearest PostShop.

“item” means an invoice, statement, reminder, letter, or other communication sent digitally through YouPost.
“payment source” means any bank account and/or credit/debit card that you add to your YouPost profile from which you will pay invoices received in your YouPost account.
“provider” means a party which has entered into an agreement with us for the sending of their items through YouPost.
“you” means the individual accessing and using YouPost and “your” has a corresponding meaning.
“YouPost” means our digital platform provided through the YouPost website that allows users to get, sort, pay, store and retrieve their essential and important information, and includes all underlying software and systems comprising our YouPost service.
“YouPost account” means the YouPost digital postal account for a particular individual at a particular address.

In order to open your YouPost account, you will need to nominate the address or addresses at which you:
You acknowledge and agree that:
As part of the YouPost sign-up process, you will be required to PIN verify any addresses you associate with your YouPost account. A PIN verification letter will be posted to each of those addresses.
Your validated address will then be made available to, and used by, any other New Zealand Post services that you access, for the purpose of providing those services to you.
In future, when the service is available, you will be able to assert your physical residential address digitally to third party agencies by choosing to share your New Zealand Post verified address with those agencies. We will never share your validated address with any third parties without your express consent.
It is your responsibility to ensure that your Profile page in YouPost is up to date, including the addresses associated with your YouPost account.
You agree that when you move, or stop receiving mail at a particular address, you will update your Profile page in YouPost by adding or removing an address. You will need to action your physical change of address through our Redirection service – see www.nzpost.co.nz or visit your nearest PostShop store for more details.
When you add an address to your Profile you will need to PIN verify that new address.
If your Profile page is not up to date and we are therefore unable to deliver items into your YouPost account, those items will be delivered through another channel (i.e. physically or by email if you’ve previously requested email delivery from a provider).
In order to receive items from a provider through YouPost, you must subscribe to receiving items from that provider on your Profile page in YouPost.
For each provider that you subscribe to, you will need to enter the relevant authentication factor. The authentication factor will be used by New Zealand Post solely to ensure that items from that provider that are addressed to you are delivered into your YouPost account. Some providers may request a different authentication factor for each type of item they wish to send through YouPost, in which case you’ll need to enter the correct authentication factor in order to receive that item digitally.
You confirm that you are authorised to provide any authentication factor that you enter into your Profile page, in order to receive items from a particular provider.
You may, at any time, remove a provider from your Profile page, in which case any items from that provider will be sent to your physical address through our physical postal network.
We have the right to add new providers to, and remove others from, our YouPost service at our discretion.
You can share your items with others. When you want to give another person access to a particular item in your YouPost account, either on a one-off or ongoing basis, you will need to follow the process in YouPost to share an item.
That person will need to be a registered YouPost user in order to gain access to any item that you want to share with them and they will be required to complete their side of the “share an item” process.
You will have visibility, through your Profile page, of who you have given shared access to your items and of the notes, history and payment activities in relation to the shared mail items. You will be responsible for sharing items with anyone else.
Where the mail item is solely in your name, you will remain responsible and liable for the payment of that item notwithstanding the fact that you have shared that item with other YouPost users.
You can cancel the sharing of an item at any time.
Where there is more than one addressee for a mail item (i.e. a joint account scenario), as soon as one addressee signs up to receive the mail item digitally, the item will no longer be delivered in hard copy to the physical address.
You therefore agree that where you are the first person out of the addressees to ask to receive that mail item digitally through YouPost, you will notify the other addressees for that item, to ensure that they are happy for you to either share that item with them through YouPost or for you to receive that item digitally while they will cease receiving a physical copy of that item.
You agree that it is your responsibility to ensure that all other addressees for that mail item consent to the channel through which that item will be delivered.
Where you use YouPost to add a payment source and/or to pay an invoice, our YouPost payment terms will apply.
YouPost enables you to upload and store important documents and materials in your YouPost account. We will provide you with 1GB of free storage space in your YouPost account for this purpose. When you exceed the 1GB limit, you will be prompted to purchase extra storage (when available) at our then current storage rates. These charges, or storage limits, do not apply to the storage of items sent by providers into your YouPost account during the first 8 years of your YouPost account.
You agree that when you use YouPost to upload and store important documents and materials:
The functionality of YouPost is provided for your convenience only and you use YouPost at your own risk.
We will endeavour to deliver items through YouPost, however you acknowledge and agree that when we can’t deliver digitally for any reason, the affected mail items will be delivered through an alternative channel (i.e. as physical mail items through our physical network or by email where you have previously signed up with a provider to receiving that provider’s items by email). Our delivery targets are a guide only.
You agree that when you access and use YouPost you will:
You agree that our YouPost service does not allow the delivery of mail:
Where a mail item falls into one or more of the above categories and therefore cannot be delivered to you through YouPost, it will be sent through an alternative channel (i.e our physical postal network or by email where you have previously signed up to receiving a provider’s items by email).
Items delivered to your YouPost account may at times be incorrect due to errors at the mailhouse or your Providers.
Users will always be notified if any mail item has been removed from their account.
You reserve the right to terminate your YouPost account by giving us 30 days’ notice in writing.
We reserve the right to terminate your YouPost account immediately on written notice to you, or at a date specified in that written notice, if:

If there is a dispute as to:

We may also collect personal information for a purpose required or permitted by the Privacy Act 1993 or otherwise required or permitted by law.
We will keep any personal information you provide secure and will not disclose it to any other parties without your prior consent. We may, however, need to disclose personal information such as your name, address, authentication factor and any other relevant user preferences to a provider’s mailing house so that they can enable items to be sent to you through YouPost.
We will also disclose personal information as required or permitted by the Privacy Act 1993 or otherwise required or permitted by law. If we consider that you have breached these terms or any applicable law we may provide your personal information as we see fit to enable us or any third party to take court proceedings, enforce or apply our terms, or to protect any party’s rights, property or safety.
We may use and share with providers or other third parties aggregated, anonymous information regarding YouPost usage and trends for data analytics purposes. This information will not be able to be linked back to you.
We will retain items in your YouPost account for 8 years (unless we or you terminate your YouPost account for any reason, in which case the items in that account will be deleted). If you wish to retain items for longer than that, you will be prompted to purchase additional storage space in YouPost.
If you want to check or correct information that we hold about you, please write to The Manager, Customer Service Centre, FreePost 55785, PO Box 2349, Christchurch Mail Centre, Christchurch 8140, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.

You agree that you will not divulge your password to another person or store your password in electronic or written format.
You acknowledge and agree that we are not responsible or liable to you or any third party for:

We have no responsibility for any dealing or transaction between you and any provider, or for the provision of products or services by that provider.
